VIENNA, Aug 8 (CP) - After a 1-1 draw in their first match of the Champions League preliminary round, both Austria Vienna and Benfica could still make it to the group stage.
The two teams met in the Austrian capital city, to where Benfica had travelled without key players such as Fabrizio Miccoli and Simao Sabrosa.
The Portuguese guests did have a good start, as international striker Nuno Gomes put his side in the lead after fifteen minutes.
However, with nine minutes left to go in the first half it was Jocelyn Blanchard to level the score for the home side.
For the second leg, the pressure will mostly be on Austria Vienna as they will need to score in order to eliminate the away-goal disadvantage.
