MARSEILLE, Dec 9 (SW) - Sparked by the return of striker Djibril Cissé, Marseille got a much-needed victory in Ligue 1 on Saturday, 2-1 over Monaco.

The home side went in front in the 38th minute as Taye Taiwo provided service for Mickaël Pagis, who slotted home after latching on near the penalty spot.

However, the struggling visitors from the principality managed to pull level in the 57th minute, Marco Di Vaio

But Marseille were given a spark in the 61st minute when France striker Cissé replaced Toifilou Maoulida, his first appearance in a game since breaking his leg in a pre-World Cup friendly against China.

Then, in the 77th minute, Cissé was involved in the play as he played a one-two with Mamadou Niang, the latter player slotting home the winning goal for Marseille.

Monaco would finish the match with 10 men after Lucas Bernardi was dismissed for a second booking in second-half injury time.
