Scotland: Celtic win, Hibs crush Livingston

GLASGOW, Feb 8 (SW) - Celtic extended their Scottish Premier League lead with a 2-1 win over Falkirk. Hibernian meanwhile, scored seven goals to crush last-placed Livingston.

Tuesday:

Dundee United - Hearts 1-1

Hearts were held to a draw at Dundee United on Tuesday. The hosts opened the score through Grant Brebner in the 35th minute, but Paul Hartley scored from a penalty to rescue a point in the 82nd.

Wednesday:

Celtic - Falkirk 2-1

Irish midfielder Roy Keane showed his value for Celtic by scoring the opening goal in the 34th minute, and a second was added by Stephen McManus ten minutes later. Kenny Milne got one back for Falkirk in the 83rd minute.

Hibernian - Livingston 7-0

Hibs crushed last-placed Livinston, scoring no less than seven goals. Christopher Killen (19th) and Derek Riordan (33rd) scored in the first half, and Gary O'Connor got a third, three minutes after the break.

Riordan scored his second goal in the 64th minute and David Mackay hit his own net in Hibernian's favour in the 70th. Steven Fletcher added two more goals in the final minutes, to set the score to 7-0.

Aberdeen - Rangers 2-0

Rangers suffered their sixth defeat of the season, away to Aberdeen. Jamie Smith broke the deadlock after 34 minutes and Steve Lovell doubled the lead nine minutes later.

Kilmarnock - Motherwell 2-0

Kilmarnock had a 2-0 win over Motherwell, with Gary Wales scoring both goals in the 34th and 51st minutes.

Dunfermline - Inverness 2-2

Dunfermline seemed to be heading for a win with goals from Noel Hunt in the 9th minute and Mark Burchill in the 11th, but Craig Dargo converted a penalty for Inverness in the 81st minute, after which Dennis Wyness levelled the score in the 88th.
