GLASGOW, Jul 14 (SW) – Having missed out on signing Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink from Middlesbrough, Celtic have turned their attentions to Deportivo’s Diego Tristan.

The Spaniard is leaving the Riazor stadium this summer and has also been the subject of interest from both Benfica and Sporting Lisbon.

“It is probable that there will be news in the next few days. He will probably go abroad,” confirmed Deportivo President Augusto Lendoiro.

“The interest from Benfica is certain, as is that from Sporting Lisbon and Celtic. Although, in each case, it would be necessary to negotiate.”

Celtic would like to sign Tristan as an experienced replacement for departed Welshman John Hartson.
