MONACO, June 22 (SW) - AS Monaco have signed FC Sochaux striker Jeremy Menez, paying a reported €3.5 million fee for the in-demand 19-year-old.
"I'm proud to join Monaco who are aiming to return to the UEFA Champions League and they showed they really wanted me," said Menez, a member of the France squad that won the 2003/04 European Under-17 Championship.
The signing gives Monaco a whole new strike force, as 33-year-old Czech Republic international Jan Koller was signed last month.
Menez, who scored 7 goals in 55 first-team appearances for Sochaux, signed a four-year contract with the principality club.
Monaco finished a disappointing 10th in Ligue 1 last season.
