A CORUÑA, May 9 (SW) - Deportivo La Coruña coach Joaquin Caparros has asked club president Augusto César Lendoiro to void his contract, freeing him to join Pamplona side Osasuna.
As Osasuna’s Mexican coach Javier Aguirre will be taking the helm of Atletico Madrid in the summer, Osasuna, who are chasing qualification to the UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds, have a challenging opening.
Caparros, who used to lead Sevilla, has grown frustrated at Deportivo as his demands for a top striker went unheeded last summer and his calls for new contracts for Victor and Jose Molina have also fallen on deaf ears.
Caparros has two remaining years on a contract he extended earlier this season.
Deportivo close out the Primera Liga season on the road against relegation-candidate Deportivo Alaves.
Osasuna, who are three points ahead of Sevilla for the fourth and final Champions League qualifying spot, host Valencia in their season finale.
