VIENNA, Nov 17 (SW) - After testing positive for a banned diuretic, ex-Austria international Christian Mayrleb could be faced with a two-year ban from football.

The 34-year-old forward's "A" sample came back positive for the drug which is banned because it can be used as a masking agent to cover up other types of doping.

Mayrleb admitted taking the drug as blood pressure medication, but he failed to alert the proper authorities and now has seven days to request a "B" sample be tested as per FIFA rules.

Should the "B" sample come back positive, Mayrleb could be banned from anywhere between six months to two years.

Mayrleb is currently playing for Pasching in his native Austria, but will not be included in the team for their league match against Sturm Graz this weekend.
