SAINT-ETIENNE, Oct 25 - Just three days after being trounced at home by Lyon in Ligue 1, Marseille were dealt another blow as they were knocked out of the League Cup 4-1 by Saint-Etienne.

Mail defender Fousseni Diawara put Saint-Etienne in front just after the half-hour mark, but the big blow came just moments before the half-time whistle when Yohan Hautcoeur doubled the advantage for Les Verts.

Bafetimbi Gomis extended the home side's advantage to 3-0 in the 52nd minute before Marseille finally got on the scoresheet with a Mickaël Pagis penalty four minutes later.

Their hopes of a comeback, however, were shot down when Wilson Oruma was sent off for a second booking in the 65th minute, and Daniel Bilos completed the scoring with 18 minutes to go with a spot kick of his own.
