HAMBURG/PORTO, Sep 13 (SW) - An early red card spurred Arsenal to victory over 10-man Hamburg in Champions League Group G on Wednesday night while CSKA Moscow were able to get a draw at FC Porto.

Hamburg - Arsenal 1-2
Hamburg got off to the worst of all starts as goalkeeper Sascha Kirschstein was sent off for tripping up Robin van Persie in the area on 10 minutes.

Rapahel Wicky was then sacrificed by manager Thomas Doll, allowing backup goalkeeper Stefan Wächter to come into the game to try to stop Gilberto's spot kick, but the Brazilian placed it nicely in the left corner for a 1-0 lead.

Things weren't all peachy in the first half for Arsene Wenger's side as they lost key defender Kolo Touré to injury in the 29th minute, replaced by Justin Hoyte.

Eight minutes into the second half, Tomas Rosicky bagged his first goal for the Gunners in typical Rosicky style with a well-placed drive from about 25 yards out after being fed by van Persie.

Arsenal never looked troubled in the match, although a late goal by Boubacar Sanogo for Hamburg ended Jens Lehmann's run of 14 hours and 30 minutes without allowing a Champions League goal.

FC Porto - CSKA Moscow 0-0
An inspired Igor Akinfeev rescued CSKA Moscow on the evening as he made countless fine saves to give the Russians a goalless draw away to a strong-looking Porto side.

Porto had the first golden chance of the match on 15 minutes as Anderson took a crack at goal from outside the area only to see his strike hit the post with Akinfeev beaten in the CSKA goal.

Anderson then fired wide a few minutes later, with striker Adriano also heading just wide of the target, but the hosts were definitely the better side in the first half.

The influential Anderson forced Akinfeev into a nice save early in the second half as Porto continued their pressure, but Akinfeev was in good form and later denied Hélder Postiga and Anderson yet again.

Porto goalkeeper Helton, though, made a save on a shot by Ivica Olic late on to ensure Porto at least got a point out of the match.
