MARSEILLE, France (AFP) - Former France international Jean-Francois Larios was facing a two-year suspended prison sentence for his alleged involvement as an agent in the Marseille transfers scandal.

Between 1997 and 1999, nearly 28 million euros went illegally into the pockets of players, intermediaries and former coach Rolland Courbis who was given a three-and-a-half year prison sentence of which 18 months was suspended.

The club´s major shareholder at the time, Robert Louis-Dreyfus, was given a three-year suspended prison sentence and a 375,000-euro fine.

Prosecutors also requested Friday that the 50-year-old Larios, a former top midfielder for St Etienne and Bastia who lives in Barcelona, be fined 200,000 euros and barred from being an agent for five years.

The case was adjourned for further deliberation until February 9.
