ROME (AFP) - AC Milan reached the semi-finals of the Italian Cup despite losing 1-0 at second division Arezzo.

Milan won the quarter-final tie 2-1 on aggregate having beaten Arezzo 2-0 in the first leg at the San Siro last week and will now face Roma in the next round.

After a sterile first half, Arezzo went ahead seven minutes after the break.

Antonio Floro Flores ran at the heart of Milan´s defence before showing Alessandro Costacurta a clean pair of heels and drilling a right-footed shot into the top corner from the edge of the 18-yard box.

The home side almost levelled the tie five minutes later when Roberto Goretti´s delicate chip hit the crossbar.

Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti fielded a strong line-up, but they were hanging on at the end as plucky Arezzo took the game to the six-time European champions.

Milan´s performance was poor, but they received a welcome boost with the return of Brazilian goalkeeper Nelson Dida after two months out with a left knee injury.

Roma booked their place in the semis after drawing 2-2 at Parma on Wednesday for a narrow 4-3 aggregate victory.

Cup holders Inter Milan will meet Sampdoria in the other last four clash.

Inter beat Empoli 2-0 on Wednesday to complete a trouble-free 4-0 aggregate score, while Sampdoria won 2-1 at Chievo to clinch their tie 3-1.
