LISBON, Apr 11 (SW) - The Championship may already be decided in Portugal, the battle for second place continues. Benfica may lose that second place to Vitoria Guimaraes after suffering a 0-3 defeat on Friday.

Ahead of the match, played in the Portuguese capital city, it was expected that visiting side Academica de Coimbra stood no chance against the much stronger home team.

But only four minutes had been played when Miguel Pedro put the guests in the lead, and Markus Berger doubled the advantage on the half hour mark.

Uruguayan and former FC Porto player added a third goal in the 65th minute, ending Benfica's remaining motivation.

Vitoria Guimaraes have the same amount of points as Benfica, but with their game against Boavista in hand, they could well occupy the second spot after Saturday.
