Villarreal midfielder Sebastián Eguren, who joined the club on loan from Swedish side Hammarby IF in the winter, has been awarded a European Union passport after marrying his Swedish girlfriend.

The 27-year-old Uruguayan international has played nine games for Villarreal since arriving in Spain, with his side now third in the Primera División.
