Frenkie Schinkels has been appointed coach of Austrian Bundesliga strugglers SK Austria Karnten. The 45-year-old takes over from Klaus Schmidt and will double up as club sporting director until the end of the season.

Schmidt was dismissed after a 3-0 defeat at SV Ried on Saturday which kept Karnten bottom of the ten-team division, three points behind FC Wacker Innsbruck.
