BARCELONA (SW) - Icelandic and FC Barcelona forward Eidur Gudjohnsen appears set to leave FC Barcelona this summer.

He is currently linked to the following Premier League sides, Aston Villa, Manchester City, West Ham and Portsmouth. However with the signing of Peter Crouch it is unlikely that Portsmouth could still be interested.

His agent and father Arnor Gudjohnsen said that he was keen to return to the English Premier League this season.

Rumour has it that Aston Villa are showing most interest in the twenty nine year old player but according to his father he may overlook Aston Villa for personal reasons and could opt for a club either in London or Manchester.

this is who portsmouth should have spent 11 million for

This guy is not worth 11 million. He has been rather mediocre at Barcelona and he can only hope for a bottom half side in Premier League.

one of the under-rated strikers in Europe............so far no luck at top clubs...........he'll do very well for a smaller club when he's a regular........

And no luck with the Iceland national team either, though that's not surprising. With only about 300,000 people, Iceland can't really hope to compete seriously in Europe.

I don't understand why Barca signed him in the first place.

He's really a good player. He would definately play an important role in teams like Man. City and Aston Villa. And, surrounded with so many stars, he wasn't bad when he played for Chelsea. I agree with chakal though: he was not really the type of player that Barça was looking for, so taking him was a mistake.
